Here’s a question and answer session for the Year Two Celebration focusing on re-uniting the Guinto’s father and son.
Q: So, how’s your first day with Kalani Phoenix?
A: It went about as well as you can want it to. After a couple of hours of getting acquainted with each other, that was it. We’re father and son. He always recognized me in all the photos. It was just a matter of putting the photo dadi and the real life dadi together.

Q: What does he call you?
A: Dada. We still have to get him to stop the “lolo” thing. His grandfather was here recently and is still calling out lolo sometimes. Kalani calls his mother, “Ann”, mostly. Yes, it feels good to hear your son call you dada.
Q: How does he look?
A: He’s everything you would ever imagine him to be like in person. Just think what he might be and that’s what he is. He’s a little smaller than I thought he would be. I had in mind he had grown into a 3 year old body. He is just a baby, gladly. I hate to say this…but with Full apologies to all relatives’ and friends newer babies, the Phoenix is nearly perfect and in the ‘untouchable’ category, when you compare him to others. He has the killer looks and killer personality (totally opposite me, thankfully). Call me biased, but you’re welcome to see for yourself.
You know him for the first minute, you love him for the rest of your life. Why “nearly” perfect? Well, he has the temper from Hell. Ann and I look like battered parents with bruises up and down our arms. He bites to take flesh off, but he does it with perfect teeth. There’s not much more to say. Think about what you think he would be if you ever meet him, and that’s what it would be. Almost perfect.
Q: What do others think about him?
A: My cousins think Kalani is very much like Marvin at the same age. Hmm…I can see that.
Q: OK. your take on his looks?
A: Once and for All, dammit. My Ate Pungay got it right: Everything from the nose down is Ann. Everything from the nose up is Terrence. You can’t see the really long and thick eyebrows and eyelashes Kalani has not to mention the hair.
