Welcome to volkanoboy.com’s first Podcast. We hope to bring you a new video/audio podcast every week. These podcasts will feature a little bit of everything from never-before-seen old travel videos to the brand new Kalani videos. That’s 100’s of hours of videos we will roll out to you over the next several years. Each podcast will be 1-5 minutes long. That is the optimal time for most successful podcasts on the inter web. Before we dispense with the pleasantries. I’ll explain what a “Podcast” is to our non-tech. cultured audience. The term, podcast, is in direct reference to Apple’s iPod. The first podcasts were audio and later, video files. The iPod became a natural place to take your files along with you.You do not have to have an iPod or any other portable media player to view podcasts. The audio/video files can be downloaded to your computer and viewed on any player you want or on any web site, like volkanoboy.com.
So, our first offering…
almost didn’t get published. We’ve been testing about 5 different media players. We decided to go with Flash media rather than Windows Media Files or Quicktime. Why Flash? Well, 80-90% of all the world’s browsers have some flash installed. The number is far less for the other options. We want to make sure everybody gets to see our stuff.Why are the videos blurry? We’ll be using a few different video media: mobile fone video, 8 mm video, mini-DV video, and in the future, HD video! Some videos will naturally look cleaner than others. As we start into the digital podcasts, you will see a great difference.Where can I find the Podcast Gallery of the old stuff? See the pretty tabs in the header above? Click on the one that says, “Podcast”. We’ll put all the collections of past podcasts there.Can I view the Podcasts with a bigger size? On the bottom right of the player look for a tiny box left of the volume control. Click on it, and you can view the podcast Full Screen!Ok, here you are. I edited the video with effects and titles, but I couldn’t find a file converter to encode it all. It looked pretty cool, but this is all you get, for now.
